📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Farewell, Coach. Gamecock Track & Field and Cross Country head coach Curtis Frye is heading into retirement after 27 years leading the program. Coach Frye’s resume is tremendous: he coached or oversaw 28 Olympians, 60 NCAA Champions, 126 SEC Champions, and 500+ All-Americans. 14 Gamecocks earned SEC Athlete of the Year and five earned National Athlete of the Year honors under Coach Frye. He also brought the first-ever team NCAA Championship in any sport to South Carolina when the women’s team won the outdoor title in 2002.

🔼 On The Record. Gamecock fans, you showed up and showed out for our baseball team all season long. 256,075 fans (the most since 2017) saw the Gamecocks play at Founders Park this season — and 11 sellouts mark the most since 2012! South Carolina came in No. 5 overall in the nation in average attendance this season.

And those who came out to the ballpark were treated to a spectacular rookie season from Ethan Petry, who earned Perfect Game’s National Freshman of the Year award this week! The organization also named Cole Messina a second-team All-American.

🔼 Hall Of Fame Game. Gamecock women’s hoops will play in the 2023 Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase this winter. The squad will travel to Connecticut with five other teams for the event; the Gamecocks will battle Utah, who made it to the Sweet 16 last season, on December 10 as part of a tripleheader.

🔼 In Desert Orbit. Christian Walker’s game-tying three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth this week was an absolute moonshot. Heading into Thursday’s slate, Walker has 13 homers on the season, which has him in the Top 25 across Major League Baseball.

🔼 Chemistry Already. Myles Stute transferred to South Carolina out of Vanderbilt and he joined 107.5 The Game to talk about why it’s time for Gamecock men’s hoops to say they’ve arrived — and how the team’s chemistry got them there.

🔼 Last Chance! Father’s Day is two days away and time is running out to take advantage of South Carolina’s Catch a Game with Dad promo! Through June 18, you can snag discounted seats to the home opener against Furman or the November clash against Kentucky and give your dad the gift of the Gamecocks (and time spent with you!). See y’all in the stands!

🤔 GAMECOCK TRIVIA

SEC Shakeup. The Gamecocks got a schedule shakeup for conference play in 2024 with new additions to the SEC. South Carolina won’t play Tennessee, Florida, or Georgia in 2024. The Gamecocks had previously played those teams every year going back to what season?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 1992

South Carolina and Georgia have clashed on the gridiron 75 times dating back to 1894, making the Bulldogs the Gamecocks’ second most-faced opponent in program history, second only to Clemson.

Have a good weekend, y’all.
