📈 STOCK UP

🔼 A Players Coach. Coach Mainieri and his staff have one clear goal for every Gamecock who suits up in the Garnet & Black next season: “I only have one goal for every one of them and that’s for them individually to become the very best players they can be.”

But for Mainieri, life on the diamond is about preparing players for life off of the diamond, too.

“They don’t create baseball programs so that I can have a place to work…They have them on college campuses so that gifted baseball players will have a place to develop their talents to their fullest potential and learn lessons that they will later use in their lives so that they can become successful husbands, fathers and in whatever career fields they chose…how our players deal with adversity, short-term adversity and how our players handle success with humility and knowing that at the end of the day, you know what, tomorrow’s a new day. The score starts 0-0 again and we got to turn the page and be ready to play each and every day,” Mainieri said.

🔼 On Track. Nine Gamecock Track & Field athletes are set to compete in the upcoming US Olympic Trials! Four current Gamecocks will head to Oregon: JaMeesia Ford, Jayla Jamison, CJ Licata, and Dylan Targgart, while five former athletes will compete: Josh Awotunde, Quincy Hall, Evan Miller, Malik Paul, and Chris Royster. Full breakdown and how to watch the trials here.

🔼 A Great Mentor. Mandatory mini camp is in the books for the Saints, and Spencer Rattler spent his time on the gridiron eager to soak up as much knowledge as he could from QB Derek Carr. Hear from Rattler this week about what he learned from the 11-year veteran.

🔼 In The Game. Xavier Legette’s dreams are coming true in more ways than one — now the first-round draft pick is featured in the upcoming edition of Madden NFL 25. Legette took to Instagram to react to his face scan in the viral video game.

🔼 Size And Speed. And speaking of Legette, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young spoke this week about developing a new connection with the team’s first-round WR: “That combination of size, speed, how explosive he is, the way he comes out of routes, it’s definitely something that I gotta get used to,” Young said. “We’re working on getting that timing down, but I’m super excited.”

Meanwhile, Athlon Sports breaks down why Legette could quickly find himself as WR No. 1 in Carolina.
