🔼 The Phone Rang. Coach Beamer remembers the moment he got the call from South Carolina AD Ray Tanner that Beamer had been chosen as the next head coach of the Gamecock football program — and now Coach Beamer is sharing what those first few days in his new role were like!
🔼 Awards, Then Regionals. More good news coming down for Gamecock baseball ahead of tonight’s regional! Cole Messina and Ethan Petry both earned third-team All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.
Messina is a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and is on the Buster Posey Award Watch List, while Petry is a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy.
🔼 Dominant Defender. Grace Fisk earned the Coaches’ Player of the Season award for her incredible work on the pitch for West Ham United Women. The former Gamecock defender appeared in 27 competitions over the course of the season.
“Grace has been an integral player for us throughout the season and has shone in the heart of our defence. She oozes composure on the ball and will never fear in putting her body on the line for the team,” Paul Konchesky, who managed the club this past season, said.
🔼 What A Comeback. In a comeback for the ages, former Gamecock Elixane Lechemia and her partner took down the top-seeded pair at the French Open in the opening round of the mixed doubles competition this week! Lechemia and Albano Olivetti beat Austin Krajicek and Jessica Pegula, 5-7, 6-3, and 10-7 in the third-set tiebreaker to advance.
