Greiner, who was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2014 MLB Draft, earned a call-up from Triple-A in 2018. Greiner retired from life on the field last month.

🔼 Time To Be Super. Gamecock baseball is off to the super regionals! South Carolina dominated the Columbia regional, going 3-0 on the weekend and exploding for 41 runs over three games. This will mark the 14th time the Gamecocks have advanced to the super regionals.

As Coach Kingston said after the game: “This is why you come to South Carolina.”

🔼 The Next Level. What a weekend of firsts for former South Carolina baseball standout TJ Hopkins! Hopkins made his MLB debut on Saturday afternoon for the Cincinnati Reds against the Brewers. He tallied his first RBI in his first appearance, then made his first career start the next day.

🔼 Dominant On D. And speaking of former Gamecocks doing cool things after Columbia, women’s soccer defender Kaleigh Kurtz made her 50th consecutive regular-season start for the North Carolina Courage of the NWSL, giving her the club’s all-time record.

🔼 A True Star. Is there anything Aliyah Boston can’t do? Aliyah earned WNBA Rookie of the Month honors after her league debut! Listen to Fever head coach Christie Sides rave about what Aliyah brings to the court every single day. Aliyah averaged 15.8 points and six rebounds per game through the Fever’s first six games of the season.

And if you can’t get enough cool Aliyah stats, check this one out: Before the weekend’s slate, she had the sixth-best player efficiency rating across the entire WNBA, and she’s in some seriously elite company. The top five? Breanna Stewart, Brittney Griner, Nneka Ogwumike, Jackie Young, and Aj’a Wilson.
