The women’s first day of events will take place later today in Eugene.

🔼 Two In A Row. Incoming Gamecock women’s basketball freshman Joyce Edwards had a special high school career, and she capped it off by winning the 2023-24 MaxPreps Female National Athlete of the Year Award for the second time. Edwards, a three-sport star in basketball, soccer, and volleyball, is a truly dominant athlete, leading the Camden volleyball team in kills, scoring 45 goals on the pitch, and winning two state titles on the hardwood. Read more about Edwards’ high school journey and what Coach Staley had to say about this incoming sensation.

🔼 In Class. A slew of Gamecocks have earned academic honors for their performance in the classroom. Women’s tennis’ Sarah Hamner earned back-to-back CSC Academic All-American honors. Hamner is the first South Carolina women’s tennis player to ever receive the honor more than once.

On the diamond, five Gamecock baseball players earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Matthew Becker, Gavin Casas, Dylan Eskew, Cole Messina, and Ethan Petry were recognized for their achievements in the classroom. Messina and Petry will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
