🔼 Early Guesses. Media analysts have South Carolina’s stock climbing as the Gamecocks are projected to finish third in the SEC East. Six Gamecocks were named to preseason All-SEC teams: Juice Wells on the second team, Trey Knox and Tonka Hemingway on the third, Kai Kroeger and Mitch Jeter as first-team specialists, and Dakereon Joyner as a third-team specialist.

🔼 Elite Company. South Carolina is one of just six schools in the country that can lay claim to fame for having at least one student-athlete drafted by the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and MLB this season!

🔼 Pigskin Poets. We love to see our Gamecocks making a difference in the community, and that’s exactly what the football freshmen did as they headed to the library to read to children as part of the annual Pigskin Poets event.

“It’s always good to give back and inspire these kids,” said freshman linebacker Grayson Howard. “It’s great when an hour out of our day is going to make their week or year of their life. Nyck Harbor and I went over the motions we were going to do for it. We wanted to make it fun for us and for the kids.”

🔼 ICYMI. Pete Lembo is one of the best special teams coordinators in the game, and at SEC Media Days, punter Kai Kroeger talked about what Pete means to him and to Columbia.

“It gives us a lot of confidence that we know our coaches care that much. We also see how much he does. He’s in the building probably more than anybody almost. He’s scheming up something, asking us what we think about something. So we love that…He’s arguably been the most impactful person from a football standpoint that I’ve had in my life.”
