🔼 How He’s Different. Spencer Rattler is back in the Garnet & Black for another season, but his head coach says QB1 may seem a little different under center.

“I think Spencer has grown in so many ways, as a person, player, and leader,” said Coach Beamer. “Even since January when Dowell (Loggains) came in and the relationship they’ve built and how he’s helped him in such a short period of time…he’s been awesome since he came back in January.”

🔼 Dad Life. Dakereon Joyner is dedicating this season to a special someone…who also happened to steal the show at a preseason photo shoot.

🔼 One Step Closer. Two former South Carolina standouts are closer to Canton. Sterling Sharpe is one of 12 semifinalists in the player category, while Dan Reeves is among the 12 semifinalists in the coach/contributor category for the Pro Football Hame of Fame.

Sharpe, a member of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, finished his Gamecock career with 169 catches, 2,497 yards, and 17 touchdowns, while Reeves, who would earn his spot posthumously, was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 1977, the South Carolina Hall of Fame in 2006, and the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame.

🔼 Have A Cold One. The Garnet Trust is off and running as the new official NIL partner of South Carolina Athletics! Sandstorm Game Day Lager is coming to shelves and taps in the Palmetto State as the Garnet Trust and Steel Hands Brewing announced a new partnership. A portion of each beer sold will go to the Garnet Trust for NIL opportunities. The beer’s official release is slated for August 19. More details on how to get it here.
