🔺 Rocket Science. First Team All-SEC running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders is gearing up for his first season at South Carolina. He transferred from Arkansas, where he had worked with current Gamecock assistant strength and conditioning coach Jamil Walker. After battling a couple of injuries, Rocket is ready for launch. He describes himself as a downhill runner with a little wiggle. How did he get his nickname? “I got the nickname ‘Rocket’ when I was six or seven. I was running really fast and the team I was playing for at the time was called the Rockets,” says the running back. Read more about him here!
🔺 Final Countdown. Former Gamecock diver Julia Vincent is making waves as she heads to the Olympic finals. She secured a spot by placing sixth in the 3-meter springboard semifinals with an impressive score of 297.30 points. The finals kick off this morning at 9 a.m.
⛳️ Also competing in Paris today is women’s golfer Nanna Koertz Madsen. She is currently tied for 40th at 5-over and will take on round three of stroke play at 3 a.m.
🏀 A’ja Wilson and Team USA women’s basketball will take on Australia in the semifinals today! They’ll tip-off at 11:30 a.m. on NBC.
🔺 Saturdays Are For Soccer. Get a first look at the men’s and women’s soccer teams tomorrow as they host exhibition matches! The men’s team will take on NC State at 3 p.m. Afterwards, the women’s team will play Wake Forest at 7 p.m. Admission is free so come out and watch your Gamecocks!
