🔼 Rookie Of The Year. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it: Aliyah Boston had the best rookie season in the WNBA! The Associated Press crowned Boston the WNBA Rookie of the Year yesterday! Our girl averaged 14.5 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting 57.8% from the field in her first season in the pros. She’s just the eighth player in WNBA history to win the Rookie of the Month award at least three times.

🔼 Gamecocks In The NFL. The NFL’s Week 1 is in the books so let’s take a look at how some of our Gamecocks fared in the pros. Among those who stood out? Hayden Hurst hauled in five catches for 41 yards and a TD for the Panthers, while Stephon Gilmore’s Dallas debut couldn’t have gone better as the defensive back registered four tackles, three pass break ups, and an interception.

Keisean Nixon picked up where he left off last season, tallying eight tackles for the Packers and adding two kickoff returns for 55 yards. Ernest Jones led the Rams with nine tackles, including four solo stops and three tackles for a loss, and 49ers superstar Deebo Samuel finished his first week with five catches for 55 yards and two runs for eight yards.

🔼 SEC Rumble. The Gamecocks are ready to take on Georgia! When asked about facing the defending national champs, QB1 said he’s most excited “to go up there and just give it your all. That’s all we can do, go out there, play clean, execute at a high level, and play our best ball, and see where it falls from there.”

Meanwhile, Dakereon Joyner called it a “mentality game,” noting: “With this team we approach everything as nameless and faceless opponents. It’s a mentality game, man. It’s football. We can’t be caught up in the atmosphere or caught up with the logo on their helmet. We have to go down there and be us. Go play ball.”

🔼 Still On Top. No. 7 South Carolina women’s golf is still in control at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The Gamecocks are -21 under par across the first two rounds with one more to play today. South Carolina’s Maylis Lamoure is tied for first at -7, while Louise Rydqvist is tied for third at -6. The squad will close out the tournament today; live scoring here.
