Carolina Traditions: 2001. You've seen the new changes to the Gamecocks' entrance at Williams-Brice Stadium: more lights, a new tunnel, and of course, the Cockyboose. But one thing remains the same.

A tradition that goes back 40 years, South Carolina football has become synonymous with the song known around here as "2001." You may think you know the full story, but in the first of our Carolina Traditions series, we talk to the man who brought it to Columbia, and a player who ran out to it for the very first time four decades ago.

Get Your Calendars Ready. The schedule is set for Gamecock women’s hoops! Coach Staley’s squad will play 13 non-conference games, featuring nine against teams who made the NCAA Tournament. After South Carolina’s season-opening trip to Paris, the Gamecocks will return to Colonial Life Arena for four straight home games: against Maryland, Clemson, South Dakota State, and Mississippi Valley State before heading to North Carolina. 🔼 On The Diamond. In more schedule news, South Carolina softball’s SEC schedule is here! The Gamecocks hit the road for their first conference battle, squaring off against Texas A&M from March 8-10, then the squad will enjoy a bye before hosting defending SEC champs Tennessee on March 22-24. This year’s SEC Tournament is slated for May 7-11 in Auburn.

🔼 Moving Up. Gamecock women’s soccer keeps climbing the rankings! The team landed at No. 7 overall in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. The Gamecocks are back on the pitch tonight on the road to take on Kentucky. Preview here.

🔼 A Spooky Good Time. Are you ready to get spooky? The Junior Gamecock Club is hosting its Halloween Party at Founders Park on October 29. The event features a variety of ghoulishly delightful activities, from carnival games to a dunk tank to sand art to gourd decorating and more.
