🎥 TAILGATE TALKS
Tailgate Talks. Football is back and Shane Beamer has big goals set out for his team this year. But before DiMarco and Garcia pick Coach's brain on the 2024 season, let's not forget these three go way back. Coach Beamer came to Columbia as an assistant the same year Pat and Stephen enrolled as freshmen at Carolina, and that gives us a whole new perspective on the glory days -- and even the shenanigans -- from back in the day.
A new episode of Tailgate Talks comes out tomorrow, and you won’t want to miss it!
📈 STOCK UP
🔺 Got The EDGE. First game week, first SEC honors of the season. Kyle Kennard and Dylan Stewart were named SEC Co-Defensive Linemen of the Week! Kennard recorded four tackles including 3.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also earned the forced fumble to set up the first Gamecock touchdown of the season. Stewart recorded four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He was also named the 247Sports True Freshman of the Week.
🔺 Devils Down. Gamecock volleyball started their season this weekend and left Duke with a 2-1 record. The Gamecocks fell to No. 13 Kansas on Friday, but it was only up from there. They turned around to sweep Colgate 3-0 on Saturday, never trailing for a single point. Sunday came and it was time to take on the hosting Blue Devils. The Gamecocks won in four sets to leave opening weekend with a winning record.
🔺 Ran With It. The cross country team started the season with a win at the Covered Bridge Open! They scored 16 points in the win, just one point shy of the clean sweep. Teresa Cherotich, Mary Frances Iseman, Anya Arroyo, and Cate Conklin finished the race 1-4. The Gamecocks will be back at it ni two weeks when they head to the Furman Invitational.
