Changing Expectations: Chapter 5: Ignore the Noise
Not many teams go into Rocky Top and come out with a win, but that's exactly what Lamont Paris and his squad did to keep their momentum going. Whether it's a hostile SEC environment, some much-deserved national recognition, or just the day-to-day life of a college student, there are plenty of distractions, but with March creeping closer, it's time to ignore the noise.

🔼 Copper Was Pure Gold. Eddie Copper threw four shutout innings, Talmadge LeCroy homered and scored five runs, and Tyler Causey drove in four runs, including his first home run, as the University of South Carolina baseball team defeated Winthrop, 12-2, in seven innings Tuesday night (Feb. 20) at Founders Park.

Carolina comes right back on Wednesday, Feb. 21, hosting Queens. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Founders Park.

🔼 Say “In-State Foe Furman” Five Times Fast. For the 81st time in program history, the 17th-ranked South Carolina softball team takes on in-state foe Furman this evening at 5 p.m. The Gamecocks are 54-2-1 all-time against the Paladins in the Soda City.

South Carolina (8-1, 0-0 SEC) leads the series against the Paladins (7-2, 0-0 SoCon) at 69-10-1.

🔼 X-Man. The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) has named University of South Carolina star All-SEC receiver Xavier Legette winner of the 2023 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy. He will be honored at the 11th Annual Enshrinement Ceremony on April 18, 2024, at Hotel Hartness in Greenville, S.C.

The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy honors South Carolina’s most outstanding college football player (or SC’s Heisman) for the 2023 season.

🔼 Soda City Switcheroo. No. 20/20 South Carolina’s home game versus No. 24/RV Florida (18-7, 8-4 SEC) on Saturday, March 2, has been moved up 1 hour to a noon (ET) tip-off. The conference clash will be simulcast on ESPN and SEC Network.

🔼 Go For Some Gridiron Goodness. South Carolina Football Head Coach Shane Beamer met with members of the media on Tuesday morning to introduce new Tight Ends Coach and Run Game Coordinator Shawn Elliott.

🔼 Beyond the Lanes. The Southeastern Conference released its 2024 Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Community Service Teams, with South Carolina being represented by Youssef Bahhgat and Paige Collins.

The SEC Community Service Team looks to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
